The next meeting is this Wednesday 15th June to Maltby Common. Meet at 2pm at the end of Outgang Lane, Maltby SK539912. The leader is Geoff Carreck. Geoff has sent this message about the meeting:
‘Directions- take the B6427 south from Maltby. After half a mile, turn left into Out gang Lane. Stop at the right angled bend where the road is joined by Lansbury Avenue.
Objectives- look at the Low Common where there are a few common spotted orchids, sedges and grasses, lousewort and marsh valerian .Proceed through the wood to the Far Common where there are more orchids, including many butterfly Orchids. There are also butterflies and songbirds.
The paths are good at present but wear stout footwear. There is a short ,steep slope down to the Low Common but it should be negotiable. I will offer assistance or circumnavigate. Hay fever sufferers should take their spray beforehand as there is a lot of grass pollen about.
Time – 2 hours or so, about 2 miles at a gentle amble.’
There will also be a meeting at Denaby Ings to continue our project there. Meet in the car park at 2pm on Thursday 16th June.
