On Tuesday 24 October the plan was to visit North Cave to see birds. However, Francis Hickenbottom is able to offer us a fungal foray, as his expected major operation has not yet got a date. We will postpone North Cave to a later time.

Tuesday 24 October  Fungal Foray to Haw Park. Leader :Francis Hickenbottom

Haw Park is a mixed woodland towards Wakefield which has a rich fungal population, including Bird’s Nest Fungi.

It is best accessed from the Doncaster to Wakefield Road A638. Turn left opposite Nostell Priory and then right almost immediately. Turn right after a mile and a half , and then left in the small village of Wintersett. Take the next turn right, the car park for Anglers Country Park is half a mile on the right. There are some sign posts but I can’t remember where!

There is a £3 charge for the car park which can be paid by phone.
Meet at 10.30 in the car park. There are toilets nearby. It could be muddy underfoot in places, though the tracks are good. Bring Lunch.
